about

I cut up, piled up, stirred up my personal memories and fragments of memories and converted them into an impersonal blue fog of melancholy.
In hope of connecting these personal ghosts to more universal emotions.

TAPE 1-3 are dub versions of my cassette tape diary from the past 10 years. Cassette tapes are played, processed and recorded in one go. It felt like directly touching and collaging my own memories.

GUITAR 1, 2 are more spatial than temporal. I had a set of notes for each ones and placed them into the space of time as I played and recorded. In improvisational process, each notes played at a certain point of time suggests there is other notes which were not played.

I wanted to abstract the concept of ‘time’ from these memories I carry so that the music can become more than me just talking about personal nostalgia. In this sense, each songs represent different kinds of time. Thinking about the time and the past is I believe thinking about the future.
